Why is it so hard for me to find work as a pharmacy technician?
Angie asked the question:
I went to school at Allied Health Careers and am now certified by the PTCB and have already received my certificate, and have sent out numerous copies of my resume to various places such as CVS, Walgreens, HEB pharmacy, St. David’s Hospital, and many other places. I admit, I have little training as a pharmacy tech, but I interned at Austin Travis County MHMR for 160 hours.
Do I just not have enough experience in the field yet? Can you give me some suggestions to places that are willing to take on a new pharmacy technician? I would really like some help. The bills are really pilling up and sooner or later, I’m gonna have to find some side job if I don’t find work as a pharm tech soon. Thanks~

is there a glut in your market of techs? contact the state Board and ask about positions. come to NV, we’re always hiring. don’t forget to include a completed application with your resume.
Have you considered moving? There is plently of work in Australia.
I was in the same boat as you. I had to volunteer for months at my local hospital before I was hired over there on a permanent basis. I noticed that a lot of pharmacies prefer experienced techs so that they will not have to take the time to train them. An experienced tech can just fill the holes in staff.
